Shadows of Fort Fisher

Once in a while we happen upon one of nature's masterpieces and realize that our own are but temporary pleasures.

I happened upon this tranquil scene nderneath the graceful Live Oak trees at Fort Fisher State Historic Site south of Wilmington. Perhaps this is nature's way of reclaiming land that was once a scarred battlefield from the War Between the States.
