Back in the 1970s my uncle built the biggest shrimp boat anywhere around this area. The "Miss Betty," 62 ft. long, wasn't even painted yet when he launched her for the first time. I went aboard and snapped a photo which, many years later, served as reference for this painting. The view is looking east across the Masonboro Sound to the North End at Carolina Beach.
