I discovered this rather neglected looking boatyard while rambling around the waterfront in Southport, NC. The natural mahogany boat on the ramp was calling to be painted.

When I finished the painting I set about to find out the identity
of this nostalgic place. A close seafaring friend learned the owner's name and also that the boatbuilder had closed shop several years ago. I chose to let the boatyard retain it's mystery to the viewer.
